FY 2024-25 Street Improvements Project

The annual street improvement project allocates funding each year to rehabilitate the City’s residential and main arterial streets including but not limited to: asphalt grind and overlay, tapered cold-mill grind, local removal and replacement, and restriping. City staff evaluates existing road conditions and implements roadway improvements based on the 2021 Pavement Management System Report Pavement Condition Index (PCI) analysis and field investigations.

The annual project is finalized each spring, and the work is generally completed during the summer months, due to technical and traffic impact reasons. The warmer months pose ideal conditions for the job and a lighter impact on the traveling public when schools are not in session.

Project Description:

The Work comprises, but is not limited to:  Mobilization; traffic control; selective 2-inch grind and 2-inch AC over lay; 2-inch full-width grind and 2-inch AC overlay; 5-foot wide tapered grind (0.00 – 1.5” depth); adjustment of utility manhole and water valve can covers as necessary; restoration of striping, pavement markings/ markers, and legends, removal of existing brick patterned crosswalks and replace with 4-inch AC & 4-inch C.A.B.; new yellow ladder higher visibility crosswalk pavement markings, in the various residential streets in Chino Hills.

  • Area 1 - Green Valley Residential Area - Chelsea Avenue, Wembley Avenue, Camden Avenue, Medina Avenue, Muirfield Avenue, Stratford Avenue; and
  • Area 2 - Whirlaway Lane Residential Area - Whirlaway Lane, Kalan Court, Sable Court, Terrace Drive, Determined Way, Aqueduct Lane, Jolon Street; and
  • Area 3 - Palisade Street Residential Area - Palisade Street, Peach Street, Hawthorne Avenue, Hibiscus Avenue, Banana Avenue, Ilex Drive; and
  • Area 4 - Ashwood Lane Residential Area - Glenwood Way, Ashwood Lane, Poplar Lane, Oakwood Lane, Beechwood Lane, Sandalwood Lane, Rosewood Way, Fir Court, and Pine Lane.

Current Construction Activities:

The project plans and specifications were approved by City Council on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
The bid opening will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025
Construction is set to begin in May 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by the end of September 2025.

Please note the following advice during construction:

  • The project work area includes several neighborhoods within the City limits and various phases of repair work will be done accordingly.
  • "No Parking" signs will be posted on particular streets at least 48 hours in advance prior to the scheduled work.
  • Work hours will be limited to 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
  • Residents are advised to park their vehicles outside the repair work limits if they plan to travel during the construction work.
