Garage, Yard, or Rummage Sale Permit

Permits Are Required

A permit is required for garage, yard, and rummage sales within the City of Chino Hills. The fee for each permit is $10. Permits may be obtained at the Code Enforcement counter on the second floor at City Hall, 14000 City Center Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday.

FEES WAIVED DURING COVID-19

The fee for each permit is typically $10, however, the fee is being waived at this time due to the impacts of Covid-19.  Although the fee for garage, yard, and rummage sales within the City of Chino Hills has been waived, a permit is still required!  One permit will be valid Friday-Sunday, between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, until October 4, 2020.

Regulations

A household can obtain up to three permits per any twelve-month period. Each permit is good for up to three consecutive days or two consecutive two-day weekends. There must be at least 60-days between each permit obtained. Garage, yard, and rummage sales may be conducted only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Only the applicant's own personal used-property can be sold. It is a violation of the Municipal Code to sell new merchandise, items made for boutiques, or items that have been acquired or consigned for the purpose of resale.

The applicant may have one double-faced sign, not to exceed six square feet in area on their property (in the front yard, the sign can be four-feet in height). This sign may be posted 24-hours prior to the sale, and must be removed immediately following the sale.
