A permit is required for garage, yard, and rummage sales within the City of Chino Hills.

How to Obtain a Permit

In person

Permits can be obtained at the Code Enforcement Counter which is located on the second floor of City Hall 14000 Civic Center Drive, Chino Hills.

  • Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Fridays 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Regulations

A household can obtain up to three permits per any twelve-month period. Each permit is good for up to three consecutive days or two consecutive two-day weekends. There must be at least 60 days between each permit. Garage, yard, and rummage sales may be conducted only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Friday - Sunday.

  • Only the applicant's own personal used property can be sold. 
  • No new merchandise, items made for boutiques, or items that have been acquired or consigned for the purpose of resale can be sold.
  • The applicant may have one double-faced sign, not to exceed six square feet in area on their property (in the front yard, the sign can be four-feet in height). This sign may be posted 24 hours prior to the sale and must be removed immediately following the sale.

Enforcement

The applicant will be billed $42 for any signs removed from city property.
