Generic Road Work

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public that contractors will perform work for the $10.1M Fiber Optic Installation Project on State Route 71 (SR-71) in the City of Chino Hills. This project involves installing Transportation Management System (TMS) field elements and a fiber optic communication system. Work will occur northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) between the Los Angeles/San Bernardino County Line and State Route 91 (SR-91). Weather permitting.

Work is scheduled to take place NIGHTLY on Monday, January 23 through Friday, January 27 from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am. Weeknight work concludes Saturday, January 28 at 6:00 am. Work operations may occur on ramps, mainline and high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes.

The following are planned work and alternating closure locations:

  • Pine Ave. On-ramp
  • Pine Ave. to Soquel Canyon Pkwy
    Lanes #2 and #3

  • SR-71 to WB SR-91 Connector
  • Pine Ave. On-ramp
  • Riverside County/San Bernardino County Line to SR-91
    Lane #2
  • Farm Service Rd. to Prado Dam Rd.
    Lane #2
  • Pine Ave. to SR-83/Euclid Ave.
    Lanes #2 and #3

Caltrans notes that these closures are dependent on the contractor receiving proper materials for each job function and they can be changed or canceled at any time. Work may involve alternating closures of lanes and ramps going NB and SB. Drivers should anticipate traffic delays and plan ahead!
