The City of Chino Hills is proud to announce that all fees for new military banner applications, as well as maintenance and replacement fees for existing banners, will be waived effective immediately. The Chino Hills City Council unanimously voted to approve the zero-cost fee at the April 26, 2022, Council Meeting, and publicly reaffirmed their support of our community’s military personnel. The City Council also voted to issue refunds to anyone who purchased a banner on or after July 1, 2021.
The Chino Hills Military Recognition Banner Program was established in 2007 to honor active military personnel who reside in the City of Chino Hills. The banners display a photo of the service person in their uniform, their name, and their branch of service. Currently over 65 military banners are displayed continuously along portions of Grand Avenue, Chino Hills Parkway, Soquel Canyon Parkway, and Butterfield Ranch Road.
To qualify as a participant of the free program, honorees must be a member of the Armed Forces and a Chino Hills resident, or an immediate family member of a Chino Hills resident. Banners are installed for the serviceperson’s length of active service and are removed when the service person is no longer active in the military. Banner applications will be processed and installed on a continuous basis. Timing of the banner installation and removal will be at the City’s discretion.
Residents who previously purchased a banner on or after July 1, 2021, do not need to submit a request for the refund. Refunds will be processed automatically. The City of Chino Hills Community Services Department will mail refunds in the form of a check payment directly to the address on file in the application.
