The City of Chino Hills is working to return unclaimed property owed to businesses or individuals who have uncashed checks issued by the City. The full list of unclaimed property is posted to the City’s website monthly at www.chinohills.org/UnclaimedProperty. The list includes checks over one-year-old that have been returned to the City as unable to locate.
The City of Chino Hills makes every effort to return funds to its rightful owners. Unclaimed property is held by the City for three years and individual letters are sent to notify individuals or businesses that are owed a refund. A list of unclaimed property for more than three years is available on the City’s website and will be published in a newspaper of general circulation on October 2 and October 9, 2021. That publication will start a 60-day time period during which individuals or businesses will have the opportunity to file a claim for reimbursement. The deadline to file a claim is December 1, 2021. Any funds not claimed by that date will become the property of the City. This procedure is established by the State of California Government Code Sections 50050-50056.
