Closure of Vila Borba Dog Park Extended until Friday, May 5th

The large dog side of the dog park at Vila Borba Park was closed for renovation of the existing turf in April and has now been extended until Friday, May 5th.  The small dog side will still be separated into two sides allowing for limited large dog use.  During the closure, the small dog side will be will be separated into two sides with portable fencing so that the large dogs may still enjoy visiting the dog park.  There are two access gates for the small dog area and temporary signage will direct dogs to the proper side during the renovation.  Inclement weather could cause further delay.

The dog park at Vila Borba Park, 17001 Amadora Drive, has been very popular since its grand opening in December 2015.  Large dogs love to run in packs during their visits to the park and their large paws have caused significant wear on the turf.  According to City officials, residents requested real grass at the dog park during the design input process.  Real grass does require periodic renovation.  Part of the renovation will include laser leveling to improve drainage and reduce the pooling of water during and after rain.
