Water Education: Elementary School
Project for Teachers
Project WET workshops promote water awareness through the development and dissemination of classroom-ready teaching aids that meet the State Standards.

Water Conservation Poster Sign Contest
The annual Water Conservation Poster Sign Contest for elementary and secondary students, grades K through 12, promotes water awareness while learning about the value of our most precious natural resource.  Winning posters are developed into Water Conservation Street signs placed throughout the City, becoming part of our on-going Water Conservation Campaign. Winning posters are also posted on our City website.

Incredible Edible Aquifer Project
The "Incredible Edible Aquifer" hands-on learning activity provides a way to understand the geology of an aquifer, as participants build their own Incredible Edible Aquifer. Each participant will be involved in making their very own aquifer using a variety of ingredients, each representing a different layer of the ground.  Call (909) 364-2800 to schedule the "Incredible Edible Aquifer" project for your classroom.

Water Cycle Bracelet/Key Ring Project
The Water Cycle Bracelet/Key Ring provides participants with a hands-on learning opportunity.  The project helps students discover the importance of water, while making a bracelet/key ring using seven different colored beads, each representing a different portion of the water cycle.  This project is a fun and easy way for kids to learn and retain information about the cycle of water.

National Theatre for Children (NTC)
The National Theatre for children (NTC) provides a lively and entertaining education opportunity that teaches children the importance of water and the need to protect our natural resources.  In addition to the performances, teachers receive guides including learning materials, classroom activities, and each student will receive a workbook to accompany the live theatre production.  Contact Inland Empire Utilities Agency at (909) 993-1700 to register your school for the National Theatre for Children.

Garden In Every School (GIES)
The GIES Program educates elementary school-aged children and their families, school staff, and other community members about wise-water usage.  The GIES program utilizes the creation of thematic school gardens that feature drought tolerant plants and efficient irrigation methods.  This program is created with state-aligned curriculum provision materials.

Water Education Water Awareness Committee (WEWAC)
