This Peyton Drive widening, Phase 3 project will result in the widening of Peyton drive between Eucalyptus Avenue and Chino Hills Parkway to two lanes in each direction with Carbon Canyon and English Channel improvements.

Current Construction and Traffic Impacts:
May 19th
Bypass Road detour is in use today due to utility relocation work. Please use the tools in place to monitor the construction activity via the webcams (OxBlue app). Please drive cautiously at a reduced speed in the construction zone.

Week of May 18th - 22nd
Utility relocation work may be underway during the week of May 18th - 22nd as part of the Peyton Drive construction project. Relocation of gas lines will require the use of the bypass road detour. That work could occur during the week of May 18th – 22nd. The project schedule for the week is subject to change. Please use the tools in place to monitor the construction activity. When the bypass road is in use, please drive cautiously at a reduced speed in the construction zone.

When the bypass road detour is utilized, construction crews will close the work zone south of the intersection of Peyton Drive and Eucalyptus Avenue at 8:30 a.m. on Mondays, after the morning school traffic. From Tuesday to Friday, the detour would start at 7:30 a.m. Use of the bypass road detour is expected to end by approximately 5:00 p.m. each day, depending upon the status of the work.

Bypass Road Detour

The bypass road was built specifically to be used when construction crews must work within the street periodically during the project. While the bypass road is in use, northbound traffic on Peyton Drive will stop, turn left onto the bypass road, stop at Eucalyptus Avenue (across from Chino Hills Community Park entrance), turn right, then approach the intersection at Peyton Drive / Eucalyptus Avenue. Southbound Peyton Drive traffic will turn right on Eucalyptus Avenue, stop then turn left into bypass road, stop then turn right on Peyton Drive.  Delays are expected when the bypass road is in use.

Remember to check live conditions with the OXblue app (directions below) or click on the webcam.  Avoid the area if possible

General Traffic Information
The contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction unless approved by the City Engineer. In an effort to reduce the impact on morning school traffic, the contractor has been directed to make every effort to avoid encroaching into the travel lanes from 7:00 – 9:00 am and after 3:30 pm, unless absolutely necessary, and approved in advance. Normal working hours for the project are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedules and plans are subject to change due to emergencies, weather, and other factors.

There may be periods of flagman-controlled traffic throughout the project. Motorists are encouraged to use another route, if possible, and expect delays. Motorists are advised to slow down in the construction area for the safety of the workers. If the traffic signal is flashing red, motorists must treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
