Peyton Drive Construction - Phase 3
This Peyton Drive widening, Phase 3 project will result in the widening of Peyton drive between Eucalyptus Avenue and Chino Hills Parkway to two lanes in each direction with Carbon Canyon and English Channel improvements.

Current Traffic Impacts
  • Flagged traffic control is occurring on Peyton Drive south of Eucalyptus Avenue as crews are doing utility work on the east side of Peyton Drive until approximately 4:00 p.m. today. Plan ahead and expect delays and use another route if possible. Motorists are required to slow down in the construction zone for the safety of construction crews on scene.

General Traffic Information
The contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic in each direction unless approved by the City Engineer. In an effort to reduce the impact on morning school traffic, the contractor has been directed to make every effort to avoid encroaching into the travel lanes from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. and after 3:30 p.m., unless absolutely necessary, and approved in advance. Normal working hours for the project are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedules and plans are subject to change due to emergencies, weather, and other factors.

There may be periods of flagman-controlled traffic throughout the project. Motorists are encouraged to use another route, if possible, and expect delays. Motorists are advised to slow down in the construction area for the safety of the workers. If the traffic signal is flashing red, motorists must treat the intersection as a four-way stop.

Your Introduction to the Bypass Road
The bypass road that has been constructed in the dirt lot on the southwest corner of Peyton Drive and Eucalyptus Avenue will be used sporadically when the contractor must close a small portion of Peyton Drive, south of Eucalyptus Avenue, to work within the street. The bypass road was built for use during construction hours. When the bypass road is in use, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that motorists avoid the area.

The first use of the bypass road is expected to occur during the week of April 20th to 24th. Delays are expected when the bypass road is in use because each turning movement will be controlled by a stop sign. Motorists with smartphones are encouraged to take advantage of the OxBlue app to check real time road conditions on the two webcams that are operational 24/7. For those with access to computers, visit www.chinohills.org/PeytonConstruction and click on the webcam photo to view conditions. When the bypass road is use, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that motorists avoid the area. Check the webcam BEFORE you travel Peyton Drive or Eucalyptus Avenue.

Traffic Flow on the Bypass Road
Northbound traffic on Peyton Drive will stop, turn left onto the bypass road, stop at Eucalyptus Avenue (across from Chino Hills Community Park entrance), turn right, then approach the intersection at Peyton Drive / Eucalyptus Avenue. Southbound Peyton Drive traffic will turn right on Eucalyptus Avenue, stop then turn left into bypass road, stop then turn right on Peyton Drive.
