A permit is required for garage, yard, and rummage sales within the City of Chino Hills. There is a $5.00 fee for each permit. This permit can be obtained from the Community Services Department, located at the Civic Center at 14000 City Center Drive.

An individual or household can obtain up to three permits per twelve-month period. Each permit is good for up to three consecutive days or two consecutive two-day weekends. There must be at least 60-days between each permit obtained. Garage, yard, and rummage sales may be conducted only between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm

Only the applicant’s own personal used-property can be sold. It is a violation of the Municipal Code to sell new merchandise, items made for boutiques, or items that have been acquired or consigned for the purpose of resale.

The applicant may have one double-faced sign, not to exceed six square feet in area on their property (in the front yard, the sign can be four-feet in height). This sign may be posted 24-hours prior to the sale, and must be removed immediately following the sale.
